Process and Quality Control
Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) is of prime importance across all stages of production from the control of the goods received to the continuing control of finished products. Therefore, non-subjective procedures are mandatory in the framework of Good Manufacturing Practice, GMP. This is why analytical instrumentation plays a key role in present day QC/QA. A multitude of QC parameters are based on the widespread physical and chemical methods available today, of which magnetic resonance technologies (NMR, EPR, MRI) are some of the most prominent examples.
EPR is used as a quality control method for the release of polyethylene used in the manufacture of orthopedic implants.
Alanine dosimetry using EPR has become a favored dosimetry technique in Gamma, Electron beam, and X-ray irradiation facilities.
